Privacy Policy

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most significant piece of European privacy legislation in the last twenty years. It replaces the 1995 EU Data Protection Directive (European Directive 95/46/EC), strengthening the rights that EU individuals have over their data, and creating a uniform data protection law across Europe.

Personal Data is any information (including opinions and intentions) which relates to an identified or Identifiable Natural Person. Personal Data is subject to certain legal safeguards and other regulations, which impose restrictions on how organisations may process Personal Data. An organisation that handles Personal Data and makes decisions about its use is known as a Data Controller.

Datum, as a Data Controller, is responsible for ensuring compliance with the GDPR regulations outlined in this policy. Non-compliance may expose Datum to complaints, regulatory action, fines and/or reputational damage.

Datum will therefore follow procedures which aim to ensure that all employees, contractors, consultants, clients (collectively known as data and users) who have access to any personal data held by or on behalf of Datum are fully aware of and abide by their duties under the General Data Protection Regulation.

Datum needs to collect and use information about people with whom it works in order to operate and carry out its functions. These may include members of the public, current, past and prospective employees, clients and customers and suppliers. In addition Datum may be required by law to collect and use information in order to comply with the requirements of legislation. This personal information must be handled and dealt with properly however it is collected, recorded and used and whether it is on paper, in computer records or recorded by other means. Datum regards the lawful and appropriate treatment of personal information as very important to its successful operations and essential to maintaining confidence between with whom it carries out business. Datum therefore fully endorses and adheres to the Principles of the General Data Protection Regulation.
